ROLEX AIR-KING 5500

The Air-King watch first saw action back in the 1930’s when British fighter pilots started wearing the Air-King as their trusted companion inside the cockpit of their fighter planes. (remember that back in those days, a wristwatch was like an extra instrument to the pilot). During that period in the 1930’s, Rolex developed several other watches similar to the Air-King with truly fantastic names! Names like; Air-Lion, Air-Tiger and Air Gigant. Most watches from this ‘Air’ line never became popular with the general public. Except for the Air King, this model and its cool name stayed in existence and is currently one of the longest continuously-manufactured models within the Rolex brand.

Nearly everybody has a soft spot for the 5500 Air-King for its simplicity and clean look. Its a true classic with cool military history and is a fairly affordable Rolex, especially when compared to its bigger brothers. These 34mm vintage Air-King watches are a great buy. They will not break the bank but you still go home with a wonderful vintage Rolex with a ton of history attached to it’s name!

This Air-King with it’s champagne dial and black serif font printing is fitted on a 19mm 78350 Oyster bracelet, the bracelet does show some stretch but really nothing to be concerned about. Also, note the mesmerizing soft sunburst finish on the dial and the wonderful yellow patina at the end of the hour-markers. This Air-king has been fully serviced and will be sold with a 12 month warranty.
