NIVADA GRENCHEN CHRONOMASTER

Now here’s something you don’t see everyday – a New Old Stock Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Seadiver! The case on this beauty is razor sharp and the entire dial is squeaky clean, Usualy when we find these Nivada’s the dials are affected by water and show some nasty damages. Not this one! Even the beautiful colour red on the yacht-timer and very cool lollipop chrono counter hand, are as bright as the day this watch left the factory in Grenchen!

The following comes from a Nivada Chronomaster booklet in which all functions of the watch are covered.

“A very high grade diving chronograph, with a case waterproof to 600 feet. the dial – again in black – contains a 30 minute recording dial with a 10 – 0 minute count down zone (marked in red) for yacht racing. There is also a tachy average speed scale, and clear luminous hands and markers. the rotating scale is 0 – 60 minutes for elapsed time, and the secondary scale 0 – 12 hours for hour recording or setting two seperate world time zones. The jewelled lever movement is of high quality and incorporates Incabloc shock absorbers. The stopwatch mechanism records 1/5 seconds and may be stopped and restarted without zeroing”.

If you were wondering where Nivade got the Exotic modelname for this watch, just have a look at the features again and you’ll know what’s up – Sixties cool!

Now, I think its obvious you should not go diving to about 600 feet with this ‘non-screw pushers’ chronograph watch (probably why a lot of these are found with water damaged dials). Btw, these days I would rate this watch as a non waterproof chronograph, due to the pushers and the watch its age. But apart from the waterproofness, the watch and its movement still perform every mechanical act as described above. the hands, as well as the hour-markers show a beautiful creamy Tritium while the greys and red accents on the dial and lollipop hand are nice and bright and look like they were painted yesterday. The bezel and black inlay are like new with clear numerals and a nice font with serif style 4’s. The pushers and the crown (with Nivada logo) are still the original ones. All the above comes packaged in a gorgeous 39mm case and fitted on a beads of rice bracelet from our friends over at Bulang and Sons. This watch truly offers a lot of bang for your buck! If You like sixties chrono’s, don’t wait too long – watches in this condition only come around every ten years or so…

The movement on this Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Seadiver, received a full service. The watch is running strong and keeping excellent time, same goes for all of the chronograph its functions. The watch will be sold with a twelve month warranty.
