WatchWorks Haarlem specializes in the sales of vintage and pre-loved watches. WatchWorks Haarlem has over 15 years of experience in the watch industry and is one of the true specialists in vintage watches and high end watches in general.
Before the foundation of WatchWorks Haarlem, founder and owner Farid collected over 15 years of experience in the watch industry working as a watchmaker and sales associate. His passion for watches and movements started at a young age when he endlessly stared through the presentation window of the local jewelry shops. As a teenager he managed to get his first job at a watch boutique located on the Waterloo Square in Amsterdam. At first, Farid worked weekends but as time progressed he was in the shop two to three times a week. Here he talked to customers and watchmakers on a regular basis and learned about the various brands, watches and movements. It is therefore no surprise that this was the place where he sold his first watch: an older model Breitling Navitimer. ’’I will never forget that moment, I was truly happy making my first watch related sale – that Navitimer is still one of my favourite watches’’ He worked at the Waterloo Square watch boutique with great pleasure for several years.
In the years that followed Farid worked as a graphic designer, he had both the education and the talent but every penny he made was spent on his passion: beautiful watches. The world of watches kept calling and the urge to learn more became bigger and bigger. After some soul searching he decided to go back to school, It was with Master Watchmaker, Machiel Kalf that Farid learned the trade of watchmaking. After finishing up his exam, Farid graduated as a licensed watchmaker.
Since that moment his knowledge about watches, movements and complications has reached a higher level of understanding. During his modest career he also had the opportunity to visit the beautiful ‘factories’ and ateliers of Jochen Benzinger, FP Journe, Christiaan van der Klaauw, Frederique Constant, Rolex, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin, where he got to meet personnel, directors and the skilled watchmakers that assemble all of the gorgeous timepieces.
After completing his education as a watchmaker, Farid worked for several specialized (vintage) watch shops and jewelers, once again in the city-centre of Amsterdam. As a watchmaker he worked on the smaller in-house repairs that were related to all Swiss watch brands sold in the various shops. Next to watchmaking, Farid also worked as a sales associate informing clients from all over the world about the wonderful world of collectible vintage watches, used watches and ofcourse, brand new watches!
More recently, Farid has been occupied in setting up platforms on different social media channels whilst being active in social media marketing for various specialized watch retailers and jewelers. His big love however is still vintage watches: watches from the 60’s up to the beginning of the 1980’s. Watches such as the Day-Date, the Speedmaster, the classic Submariner, the awesome Datejust en the allways colorful Rolex GMT-Master. All experience and knowledge gained from the past is now bundled inside WatchWorks Haarlem.
