ROLEX SUBMARINER 5513 ‘SERIF DIAL’
I will try to explain the ‘Serif Dial’ briefly without driving you mad. Please have a look at the corners of the rectangular 3, 6 and 9 o’clock hour markers. On a ‘Serif Dial’ for a 5513 Submariner, these markers will have a small pointy ends, a serif. Now, the serif I am referring to can be seen on the macro image above. Once you’ve seen the serifs its pretty clear, and you will never forget about ‘m again. Personally I find the serif dials very attractive because it adds a little bit more style and flair to the overall design of the Submariners dial. If you look closely you will see that even the 12 o’clock triangle on the dial has two small serifs on the top left and right side, very cool!
The matte grey dial itself is near spotless and features the feet first printing with open sixes for the depth rating. The Tritium plots on this ’73 dial have turned a nice vanilla tone while the hands show a warmer cream tone. What really jumps out when wearing this Submariner is the wonderful bezel inlay, this has changed it’s color from black to a navy blue tone, really nice. The blue works especially well with the matte grey dial and patinated Tritium. The case on this 5513 is very strong and in a truly excellent condition. The bracelet on this Sub toolwatch is the newer but very trustworthy 93150 Oyster band with diver folding clasp.
So, a ‘Serif Dial’ Sub. Sure, it’s a micro detail, but details like this make vintage Rolex watches that more attractive and collectible. With this killer Sub we are throwing in one of our Marina ‘water-repellent’ signature Watch Rolls and a 660ft = 200m black Submariner patch.
This Vintage 5513 Submariner has been fully serviced and will be sold with a 12 month warranty.
