ROLEX DATEJUST ‘SWISS’ DIAL
Rolex released the Oyster Perpetual Datejust back in 1945 during the 40th Anniversary of the Rolex Company. The Datejust was the very first self-winding waterproof Chronometer Certified wristwatch to display the date in a window at the 3 o’clock position. The Datejust with its waterproof Oyster case has long been admired for its truly classic design and as a watch that will fit any occasion. The overall design of the Datejust has only been slightly altered over the years, making the (vintage) Datejust an iconic symbol of the gentleman style!
The Datejust we’re offering here is a somewhat early one with a serial number dating production back to 1962. The lovely so-called Dauphine hands are the original ones and the champagne colored SWISS dial truly has some killer hour markers – we absolutely love these! The hour-markers are raised and thick and are cut in an angle to reflect the maximum amount of light. The markers at the six and nine position are double the width of the other hour markers and have a small split cut right down the middle, a truly stunning piece of machinery which looks killer on the wrist! Different on these older Datejusts is the more wide spaced font on the dial, apart from the wider spacing the font on the date-wheel is also different, these are larger and more block like. The case of this 1603 is still very good with strong lugs on all sides. This 1603 is fitted on a Jubilee bracelet, but a nice beige or brown vintage strap would also look the part in combination with the champagne dial.
This Iconic Rolex has been fully serviced and will be offered with a 12 month warranty.
