Datejust 1603 Doorstop Dial

Doorstop dial? I hear you thinking.. Yes doorstop, like the original wooden doorstop we all probably used at some point in life to keep the door open. Now, have a look at the six and nine o’clock indices on that gorgeous creamy pie-pan dial, and this watch’s nickname will completely make sense.

So, this 1603 Datejust has a soft, Sunray finished dial which aged to a wonderful, warm creamy tone. That pie-pan dial is adorned with beautiful 1960’s black Serif printing, the style and lettering we love so much. All hour-markers are manufactured from 18k white gold, including the so-called ‘Doorstop’ markers at the six and nine o’clock position. All other markers are cut sleek with a sharp facet on both sides making the marker pointing a bit upwards, almost like a tiny roof shape. All tritium dots at the end of the hour-markers are perfectly intact and show a wonderful dark vanilla patina – By the way, this entire T SWISS T dial is in a crazy condition! it truly looks like it left the Rolex factory yesterday, but with aging – just awesome and rare to find in this condition. The rugged looking Engine turned bezel remains clean and in excellent conditions, sharp edges all around. The case is still nice and thick with strong lugs, while the reference and serial number are clearly visible and readable between the lugs. The original Folded Jubilee bracelet also remains in a very good condition and is fitted with the more rare and much sought after, Big Logo clasp.

This vintage Datejust 1603 ‘Doorstop Dial’ was fully serviced by our watchmakers and will be sold with a 24 month warranty.
