1603 Datejust “Golden”
Let me start by saying that the dial on this 1603 Datejust is the absolute eye catcher and of the highest quality. The original 6251 folded Jubilee bracelet has seen its fair share of life, with some stretch on the center links, but that silver dial, which has been nicely sealed and protected inside the case, is still incredible pure and pristine. Another wonderful and rare feature about this dial are of course those 18k yellow gold hour-markers and hands – A particular feature which often was used by Rolex with watches manufactured for Middle Eastern countries, we see the same markers and hands with military issued Datejust watches made the for Saudi Arabia armed forces for instance.
This stunning Datejust wears very comfortable on the folded Jubilee bracelet, and please don’t be to worried about the stretch, all stainless steel pins and connections were fully checked and/or replaced so she will be good to go for another 40 years (or until you gift this watch to your daughter or son). Again, the dial is truly stunning and it has been a long time since we saw such a clear, cool, yet vibrant pie-pan dial on a four digit vintage Datejust. Also, note the wonderfully aged Tritium inside in the hands and on the hour-plots, these show a marvelous vanilla tone with all hour-plots perfectly intact, and with perfectly matching patina to that of the hands. The colour of this dial in combination with that 18k gold hardware also makes this Datejust an excellent candidate for leather straps, whichever color you put on there, it will look amazing! Don’t hesitate to schedule in your appointment for some private shopping, you really need to see this beauty with your own two eyes.
As always, this 1603 “Golden” Datejust was fully serviced, but we left the case, bracelet and folding clasp unpolished as these show some nice original characteristics, like the clear and sharp Rolex coronet on the clasp for instance – She will be sold with our 24 month warranty.
