16760 GMT FAT LADY

This exquisite 16760 GMT ‘Fat-Lady’ we’re offering here is a watch bought directly from the first owner, a veteran KLM Captain to a Boeing 747 jet. This Captain wore the 16760 like a true tool watch, using the 24 hour rotating Coke bezel and the GMT hand to calculate different timezones throughout his long spending career as an Airline pilot.

As you may have noticed on the photo’s, the 1987 tritium dial was replaced for a Luminova one, why you may ask? Well, our pilot simply couldn’t make out the time and a second timezone in his lowlight conditioned cockpit, during intercontinental night flights because the Tritium on the dial was completely dead after wearing the watch for over 25 years. So, he requested a new dial from Rolex, and in 2013 the watch received a full overhaul via the Dutch Rolex Service Center where the Tritium dial was replaced for a Luminova one (full receipts with dial changed mentioned are available with the watch) so our Captain could once again use this Rolex GMT-Master what it was intended for.

The watch remains in a very good condition, especially considering it was used everyday! the ‘Fat Lady’ case on this 16760 is strong and fat with sharp untouched lugs and a very well conditioned stainless steel bezel and Coke insert. The 62510 Jubilee bracelet also remains in a good condition, but as to be expected from a Toolwatch that was worn daily, she is showing a little stretch. The dial is of course like new and is showing excellent readability, the original date disc with it’s wonderful serif style, open 6 and 9 numerals was thankfully preserved by Rolex and really give off that 80’s Rolex vibe. If you’d like a good story and appreciate a well documented history and provenance with your watch  – Then this is your new GMT-Master!

The watch is accompanied by all its original boxes, paperworks, hangtags, booklets, spare links etc. Apart from all the original goodies, this 16760 also comes with RSC (Rolex Service Center) booklet and RSC warranty card and receipts. A wonderful, full collectors set and when looking at the GMT’s mayor increase in value over the past few years, I guess it’s safe to say that this 16760 not only is a future classic, but also a solid investment – I wish I could keep them all!.. This 16760 GMT was fully serviced and the movement is running according the COSC specs, she will be sold with a 12 month warranty.
