1803 Day-Date “Linin”

Here’s another knock-out of a Day-Date! This 18k yellow gold, vintage Day-Date was born in 1972 and features a striking textured dial. The finish on this dial is better known amongst collectors and aficionados as a Linen dial, as the overall finish on the dial resembles crossed threads of oh well, linen fabric – Do a Google search for linen fabric and you’ll see where Rolex got the idea from.

Each of the yellow gold hour-markers on top of the Linen dial show four beautiful faceted sides with a sleek black lacquered line running down the middle of the marker, with twin hour-markers (double the width) for the 6 and 9 o’clock positions. By the way, those sleek black lines aren’t that obvious untill you hold the watch in an angle, then it all makes sense. Those small black lines increase visibility once the watch is on your wrist, its not loud but when you look down to check the time, all hours are clearly visible and its easy to read the correct time all due to that little black line – A fine piece of Rolex ingenuity and design! The Day wheel features the days of the week in English, while the Date wheel has the so-called open 6’s and 9’s numerals which are very attractive to us watch crazy guys and girls. The case is in an excellent conditions with beefy lugs, sharp Fluted bezel and all gold hallmarks clearly visible to the naked eye.

Within the range of vintage 36mm watches we feel that the 1803 Day-Date truly is one of the most beautiful vintage Rolex watches around. On a leather strap its also fairly affordable compared to its full gold Presidential brothers. This particular 1803 is fitted on our soon to be introduced ‘Jet Black’ Grained Calf strap. The watch was fully serviced according the Rolex specs and will therefor be sold with our 24 month warranty.
