18038 Rolex Day-Date

This 18038 Rolex Day-Date in all original conditions came straight from the family of the first owner. Prior to traveling to Haarlem, this Day-Date spent it’s entire life in the South of Spain, Marbella to be exact, and due to those sun drenched days at the Costa del Sol, the golden dial on this 18038 developed a wonderful flat yellow tone. Imagine the original owner somewhere in the late 1970’s, early 80’s wearing this gold Rolex. Visualize a suave disco beach club, unbuttoned dress shirt, gold chain, perhaps a diamond pinky ring.. Getting all the attention while sipping on a Tequila Sunrise.. Man! those were the days.

This 18038 Day-Date features one of the fattest cases we’ve seen in a while, all lugs are sharp and well shaped, and you can tell by the way that the gold around the winding crown position is preserved, that she hasn’t seen much polishing. The President bracelet with its original Oyster clasp remains in a very good condition with less stretch then you would expect from a yellow golden Day-Date this age. Even though the beautiful vintage gold with its warm radiance on the case and bracelet is an eye catcher, the real striking feature of this watch is the dial and the way it contrasts with the entire golden watch, making it look pink gold at times.. The President bracelet (with fixed links) is a full length bracelet by the way, not one link was removed in the past 45 years and all links show zero damage and/or traces of wear.

As always, this 18038 Rolex Day-Date and its movement were fully serviced by our watchmakers, and this knockout will be sold with our 24 month warranty.
