Rolex Date Sigma dial

As we stated about two years ago, the 34mm Rolex watches are clearly working their way up the vintage-watch food chain, and rightfully so. These are really cool Rolex watches for both ladies and gentlemen, and with the Date’s clean bezel and more strong looking Oyster bracelet, these Rolex Date watches optically look larger than 34mm, so don’t cross this watch-size off your list just yet; stop byand try one on; I’m confident you’ll love it!

We couldn’t just offer any Rolex Date, we’re very happy to present to you this beautiful Rolex Date Sigma dial. In general, Sigma dials on vintage timepieces refer to the usage of the Greek letter sigma (σ) on the watch dial, next to the T Swiss T writing beneath the six o’clock position. This sigma mark indicated that the watch’s hour markers and hands were made of gold, in the case of this Rolex Date, white gold. The goal was to comply with Swiss legislation requiring the use of precious metal for certain components in order to fulfill particular quality standards. So, white gold hour markers and hands, excellent. But please also notice the warm aged Tritium lume-dots located right against those gold hour-markers, and the Tritium inside the white gold hands, these have a wonderful vanilla colour to them. The original date-wheel features a wonderful serif font with open six and nine numerals, and the case and bezel remain in more than fair condition. The matching 78350 Oyster bracelet is also from 1978 and in a very good condition with little stretch. Both the case and the lugs are strong and sharp and haven’t seen to much polishing – all in all a wonderfully maintained Rolex Date with a very cool dial.

As you are used to by now, the entire movement was fully serviced by our Rolex trained watchmakers, and this watch will be sold with our extensive 24 month warranty.
