The allure of a gilt dial and the gilt printing technique ensures that every one of these vintage Rolex’s fitted with such a dial are truly unique watches. It’s hard to find another Rolex with the exact same gilt dial. Why you ask? Gilt dials age differently from each other, some keep their super glossy (factory) finish, others turn a gorgeous tropical brown and others are effected by moist or water which will eat away the glossy finish of the dial. Therefor, overall condition of these dials are of great importance when assessing a timepiece like this.

We are happy to report that this 1601 Gilt dial Datejust was taking very good care off over the past 50 years. This is also a fresh to the market watch, meaning it has never been put up for sale before. As you can see the black glossy gilt dial on this Datejust is in excellent condition and does not show any cracks or fractures. The warm, golden gilt printing is excellent and the relief can be seen with the naked eye. The dial is further decorated by two fat ”doorstop” hour-markers on the six and nine o’clock position, with beautiful and sleek markers for the remaining indexes – this design really adds to the exclusiveness of this all ready rare Datejust. The entire watch is still in it’s original condition with a strong case, original and full length 6251 Jubilee bracelet with 55 end-links and a clean and sharp clasp, with clearly visible and fat Rolex coronet. The bracelet does show some stretch to it but is absolutely nothing to be worried about.

The Gilt, glossy black pie-pan dial, is a sight for sore eyes – what a beauty! Once on the wrist, you’ll experience that this Datejust is truly something special! The entire watch and it’s 1570 caliber were fully serviced according to the Rolex specifications and will be sold with a twelve month warranty.
