ROLEX ‘RED’ SUBMARINER 1680

Verry happy to offer you guys this Red Rolex Submariner 1680 – Let’s start by mentioning all the original goods that are still with the watch; The original owner of this watch who bought it brand new in 1977 is named Mr. Morrel. The original receipt that comes with the watch is in his name, as are the US Rolex Service Center warranty papers from 1986. The Original green hangtag has the watch it’s case-number on it, which in turns matches with the receipt and the Rolex Service Center warranty paperwork. There’s also a letter from October of 2008 wherein Mr Morrel tells the new Dutch owner he was the original buyer of this 1680 and that he enjoyed wearing the Submariner for the last 30 years. After purchasing the watch, the Dutch buyer brings in the Sub for a long awaited service in December of 2008 at Rolex AD Leon Martens in Maastricht. The watch is given a movement overhaul but on request from the Dutch client isn’t fitted with a new crystal, crown and tube, because these are still the original ones! This fact is also stated on the service receipts from Leon Martens that are also with the watch. Furthermore the watch is accompanied by the Original red hangtag, the Original Rolex Submariner booklet, the ”Auto Lock” Revolving Bezel How It Works booklet, the Original ”Your Rolex” booklet, the 200/660 Rolex Anchor, and the original inner and outer boxes which are the more rare 06.00.06 boxes (which are in a great condition i might add).

The dial on this red Sub looks incredible! No moist or water damage, no scratches, no loss of Tritium – everything is near perfect! Even the dials creamy patinated Tritium matches perfectly with the original hands. The grey inlay is an early 80’s service inlay but still has the original Tritium dot with perfect patina. The case of this Submariner is in an excellent condition showing strong lugs with sharp and original facets all around. The watch is fitted on a 93150 Oyster bracelet which has Solid Oyster Links and 580 end pieces. In our opinion this is really the most comfortable wearing bracelet for the Red Sub or any other Submariner for that matter. The bracelet is in a very good condition and wears extremely comfortable. Apart from the steel bracelet this Red Sub also looks very attractive on one of our Molequin straps, which you will get to choose one from to complete this set.

A 1680 ‘Red’ Submariner is something all vintage Rolex collectors aspire to own at some point in time. I even know some collectors that have owned and sold more than one of these 1680 Reds, but always end up buying another one back, simply because it’s just too good as a vintage Rolex and really gives the wearer a lot of joy – That little hint of red is truly something special.

The watch it’s movement was fuly serviced according to the Rolex specs – we did not polished the case and or bracelet.
