UG “Nina Rindt” Tropical

If there ever was a watch that could beat the vintage Rolex Daytona, it would be this Universal Geneve Compax aka “Nina Rindt” There are quite some similarities between the two; the dial layout for instance with its 30 minute chronograph and running seconds at the 9 o’clock position, the black tachymeter bezel, the pump-pushers, the famed Valjoux 72 movement, and the overall diameter of the case. Only thing is, this UG Tropical “Nina Rindt” is available at a fraction of the price of the vintage Daytona!

This watch got his nickname through Nina Rindt, a former international supermodel, and widow to the late Formula 1 World Champion Jochen Karl Rindt. Mrs Rindt was often seen on the racetracks in the 1960’s wearing this Universal Geneve Compax. What makes this already rare UG Nina Rindt even more rare and coveted, are the Tropical brown sub-dials. This watch started out as a classic Panda dial configuration with a white dial and black sub-dial, but due to the watch it’s age and most likely UV from the sun, those black sub-dials turned to a ridiculously attractive brown color (more warm and beautiful in real life then on any photo) and the white dial looks a bit creamy/off white, very appealing and dare I say it, sexy! The case, bracelet and tachymeter bezel all remain is excellent conditions. We believe this watch is still unpolished with a perfect twisted lug case and near spotless DON (dot over ninety) tachymeter bezel. This exotic beauty is worn on a perfect and rare “U” signed Double Beads of Rice, Gay & Freres bracelet, with zero stretch.

The famed Valjoux 72 movement was fully checked by our watchmakers and is running smoothly with all complications functioning accordingly. She will be sold with our 24 month warranty.
