1803 Day-Date ‘Havana’

This 1803 Rolex Day-Date with exquisit, Havana brown dial also has some ‘Ghost’ characteristics to it, the soft white printed text ‘disappears’ when the watch is viewed from certain angles – enough reason to nickname this beauty: El fantasme de la Habana aka The ghost of Havana – And what an incredibly cool and crazy Day-Date this is! The ‘Havana’ dial has a beautiful soft brown color, adorned with 18k yellow gold, Baton indices. The hands are also manufactured from 18k yellow gold and the most coolest feature on this dial is probably the way the Tritium dots effected the top layer of the dial, creating a lighter coloured ‘orb’ around the Tritium which seems to glow due to the difference in contrast and color.. But I also can’t help to see 11 miniature fried eggs..  Can you see ‘m? 🙂

The case on this 1803 is in a very good condition with fat and strong lugs and a bit of a warmer glow of the yellow gold, all thanks to the way 18k gold was composed back in the 1970’s. The slightly larger amount of copper gives these vintage Day-dates a wonderful, slightly darker glow which really adds to this watch its beauty and appearance. The watch is worn on our 20mm Grained Calf, Sandstone strap which closes around your wrist using a vintage 18k gold Rolex buckle. We feel that this Sandstone strap matches very well with the watch and the warmer yellow gold, but should you prefer a different color strap it’s no problem at all, we have enough straps to choose from. The 1556 movement was fully serviced by our watchmakers according the Rolex factory specs. This 1803 Day-Date ‘Havana’ will be delivered with our 24 month warranty, including a green Rolex service pouch, our WWH service rapport and parts replaced during the movement service.

All in all this is an astonishing vintage Day-Date! Since photo’s don’t really do justice to this piece, we’d very much like to invite you to our showroom for a private viewing, coffee is always on!
